Catching up with Josh Coppins

Filed under: Fundraising, Uncategorized — Jake @ 8:47 am

After a really hard week training with Future Trial, Karl and I went to the first Italian MX Championship about two hours away from where we live on Sunday. One of the mechanics Sergio from the Future Trial Team went with us as we wouldn’t have had a clue where we were going. It was good see Josh and to watch him working with his team, very professional. When we arrived at the Yamaha site Josh was out walking the track and then we caught up with Jamie Coppins who supplied us with the free tickets, cool aye!! After he came back from walking the track we caught up with him while he had a quick bite to eat then it was off to race. It was good to see him ride, there were 30+ bikes in each race, when the flag drops it is soooooo loud, man these guys must be really fit as they race non-stop for 40mins. Josh raced three 40minute races and was really just a warm up to his World Championship Title in April. Between each race it was good to see the mechanics at work and they put in a new clutch for the second motor before the second race while Josh got his breath back in his motor home. Josh had a good pre-race with a eighth, fifth and a fourth as he said that he wants to be at his peak in April.

All in all it was a good day out and a big thanks to Josh and Jamie for organising the free tickets.
I wish Josh all the best for getting his number 1 position that he deserves this year.

Fundraiser Quiz Night

Filed under: Fundraising, Uncategorized — Jake @ 2:32 pm

On Saturday the 16th of June our good friends Dave and Michelle Fletcher put on a quiz night and a auction for me to help raise some money for my trip.

There were ten teams of around eight people, and ten rounds of questions. Everyone had good laugh and the thunderbirds team won overall on the night. There were heaps of prizes and plenty of good food to eat throughout the night.

After the quiz it was time for the auction. There were heaps of cool prizes for people to bid on,like a snow board, a ride in a jet boat and plants.

It was a very successful night, we raised just over $10 000.00!

A big thanks to Dave and Michelle for putting on such an awesome night. Thanks also to all the people who donated the prizes. A big thank you to Lance and Richard from FineTouch Catering for supplying all the great food.

Fundraiser Hog Club Night

Filed under: Fundraising — Jake @ 4:26 pm

Last Wednesday the 6th of June me and dad were invited along to the Wellington Hog Clubs AGM as guests and also to tell them about trials and what my plans are these next couple of months. They ran a bottle auction for me and we also auctioned some canvas prints and posters [sorry the polo shirts were a bit small guys!]All the money is going towards my trip. We raised $1500.00!

Thanks to everybody that supported me that night and for being so generous. Special thanks to Brocky for the invitation.
