The Arrival in England

Filed under: Travel — Jake @ 8:17 pm

Me and Warren landed in London on Tuesday night after a flight that seemed to be never ending. We were picked up by a former top 15 world class rider (Sam Conner) We stayed the night at his place and in the morning we caught the train to a place called Gatwick where we picked up our big van.(THE BEAST)

After we had sorted everything out with insurance for the van we made our way up to Stroud to BVM Motorcycles. Today we will be setting up my new bike and stocking up on spare parts etc.

We are aiming to drive up to Yorkshire around lunch time today where we will be spending the next five days. Also on Monday I’m doing some training with Graham Jarvis who used to be a top three world rider.

By for now

Fundraiser Quiz Night

Filed under: Fundraising, Uncategorized — Jake @ 2:32 pm

On Saturday the 16th of June our good friends Dave and Michelle Fletcher put on a quiz night and a auction for me to help raise some money for my trip.

There were ten teams of around eight people, and ten rounds of questions. Everyone had good laugh and the thunderbirds team won overall on the night. There were heaps of prizes and plenty of good food to eat throughout the night.

After the quiz it was time for the auction. There were heaps of cool prizes for people to bid on,like a snow board, a ride in a jet boat and plants.

It was a very successful night, we raised just over $10 000.00!

A big thanks to Dave and Michelle for putting on such an awesome night. Thanks also to all the people who donated the prizes. A big thank you to Lance and Richard from FineTouch Catering for supplying all the great food.

Practise with Warren and Good Morning Show

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jake @ 2:32 pm

Last weekend me and Warren went up to Woodville to do some training. It was really cold and wet but it was good practise for Europe, this was also my first time out on the bike since I broke my arm. I was a bit rusty at first but I soon got the hang of it again without my arm giving me too much grief. So things are looking good for Europe and I am now counting the sleeps to go.

Yesterday me and Warren went on the good morning show. We went to a practise venue that I use quite a bit and we had a warm up before the TV crew got there. Every thing went well except the rocks were very slippery because of the dew so we couldn’t show off as much as we would have liked to in front of the camera.

It was good to meet Brendon Pongia the co- host of good morning and was a crack up seeing him ride my bike.

Fundraiser Hog Club Night

Filed under: Fundraising — Jake @ 4:26 pm

Last Wednesday the 6th of June me and dad were invited along to the Wellington Hog Clubs AGM as guests and also to tell them about trials and what my plans are these next couple of months. They ran a bottle auction for me and we also auctioned some canvas prints and posters [sorry the polo shirts were a bit small guys!]All the money is going towards my trip. We raised $1500.00!

Thanks to everybody that supported me that night and for being so generous. Special thanks to Brocky for the invitation.
