Good Day on Bike

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jake @ 8:04 am

Today was a good step forward for the bike and myself.
Alex Wig, myself and Karl went out this afternoon to test some modifications on the bike from the morning. Today was the first day that I could really ride the bike the way I wanted to. It revved out good before but didn’t have good power down the bottom. My mechanic has now fixed this and is a totaly different bike. Was good to have Karl come out to work on our minder/rider team building. Alex was doing six rocks on his back wheel but not in a straight line I was trying as well and got three rocks (wont be long and I will get the six rocks too)
At the end of the day Alex was said that he was quite impressed how much better I was riding.
Great day and very happy with the bike.

Ciao

Update

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jake @ 1:30 am

Hello everyone

Well another good week in training. Have been riding every day with the guys and going to the gym which is my normal week. Alex has gone back home this weekend for a local event in England but will be back on Monday.
Quirino has said that Karl can come out with me 2-3 half days during the week when I go practicing so that is really good.
Went out on Saturday for a practice and Farbio was there as well, was really good to see him work with his minder. He had a big crash and fell off a massive pile of rocks on a hill side and ended up at the bottom but luckily he was ok. Got back to the factory and cleaned the bikes ready for a service on Monday.
Will update again next weekend.
Ciao

UPDATE

Hi everyone
Just thought I would let you know that Karl and I went to the first World Indoor Event to watch last weekend in France. We went to the even with Quirino (boss man) and we got pit passes which allowed us to get amongestthe riders. We had a chance to walk the sections with the top riders before they started the event. It was amazing to see what they had to ride. Both of us had never seen in person this kind of event and the sections are even harder and bigger than they look on the indoor DVD. Quirino introduced us to Adam Raga and shook his hand, was just like one of the boys to talk to. He asked us where we were from and when we told him he said ‘your country is upside down to us’ LOL.

We then got Dibs bikes ready for scrutineering and got to look over the new 08 bikes. After that the boys had some sections outside to practice on before the event started it was good to see them trying to out do each other with these rocks. Fuji, Bou and Cabestany (sherco 4 stroke 1st indoor event) all stood out from the rest in practice. The sherco 4 stroke looked a tidy bike and revved hard.

Event started at 8.30pm and Dibs was first out as he picked first place to ride out of the bucket (which is always hard as you are the Ginnue pig to show the other riders what works and what doesnt). Dibs is fairly well considering coming out first. Dougie Lampkin was there on his 2 stroke beta and didnt seem to be in touch with his bike yet. Cabestany won his first lap and Raga and Bou second and third. Bou was very lucky to get into the top three as he had two fives in the first lap, Fugi just missed out in the race to bet Bou. Short break and then top three riders ride the sections backwards to find their placings (this was when Karl said ‘this section in front of us, there is no way they can ride that backwards’, Karl in the end had to eat his words as all three riders cleaned the section).

These guys are not only really good but seemed to have no fear as well as it is very hit and miss but they always seem to hit. Bou came home first (just) as cabestany had a silly 5 on one section which made his placing second followed by Raga on third. We think that Cabestany will be the one to watch this year. Event finished at midnight and then we had a five hour car ride home which we arrived home at 5.30 in the morning. Very tired the next day, but all in all it was the best trials riding we have ever seen. Cant wait to see more!!!

Having a meeting soon with Quirino soon to organise my first Italian round before the world rounds start, will keep you all posted with dates.

Ciao

p.s. some photos will be loaded this weekend so keep an eye out!!!

Hi Everyone

Well where do I start. After the long flights we needed a couple of days to recover.
We have not seen the sun yet and has been raining pretty much every day since we got here. But apart from the weather it has been fantastic.

On Saturday Monica took us to the factory to have a look. I really thought that we might not get there as the people here are crazy on the roads. They dont slow down for anything or anyone. We agreed that the road rules here must be first in first served. CRAZY!!!

The Future Trial TRW Factory, what can I say, the best way to explain it is TRIALS HEAVEN!! Quirino took us into see the workshop and that was amazing. Everything was laid out so professionally, he then took us out the back and showed us where the bikes are stored and in one area on the shelves were 20-30 frames waiting to be assembled, and then Quirino said to Karl that this will be his job over the weeks to help assemble these bikes.

James Dable and Alexz Wig were working on their bikes after going for a practice so we hanged out with them for a bit. We got to look at their bikes and they are really cool. There is so many cool bits on their bikes and they were very light. Future Trial Team make trials bikes to order for the public as well. You can purchase 1 125cc, 250cc, 280cc, or a 300cc and if you are really keen they will even build you a Dable 300cc replica for a measlie $25,000 NZ$ (Mum and Dad just to let you know that I have just purchased one on the credit card and it is on its way home, na just kidding)

We went for a little practice on a 2007 TRW montesa and we had the chance to meet Farbio Lenzi and man he is really good. After the practice Farbio left his bike there so that it could be serviced for the first Italian indoor round this weekend. Karl and I were cleaning some of the bikes and Quirino said can you clean Farbio’s bike and he said would we like to have a go on it before you clean it, choice aye.

Stayed with Karl and Debbie until Tuesday and now I am in the apartment with the other riders. Is going ok so far. Have been practicing on the bike and going to the gym the last few days. Will post more soon.

WE HAVE ARRIVED!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jake @ 5:32 am

Hi everyone Debbie here.

Just thought I would give everyone an update on what?s been happening over the last few days.

The flights were long, on the way to San Francisco we each had a TV to watch so that passed the time away quickly but the second long haul we weren?t quite so fortunate to have that luxury. The kids were actually really good to my surprise. We came off the flights all very tired and a bit jet lagged. We had no trouble going through the boarders to each of the country which was really good. When we finally arrived at Milan we collected our bags but unfortunately we had two suitcases and Jake?s flag pole go missing. And you guessed it; it was one of my suitcases that went missing so until today I have no clothes apart from what I took in my hand luggage. So at the moment I have to wear Karl?s shirts and pants. So I am really looking forward to getting them back really soon!

Our apartment is great, thank goodness. Was a little worried on what to expect, it has tiles all through on the floor not as good in this time of year as it is a little chilly on the feet but I?m sure it will be great for when the summer comes. We have had rain since we arrived and the sun has not appeared yet. It starts to get dark at about 4pm and stays dark until about 7.30am.

Quirino and Monica are really lovely people, very understanding and very helpful. Monica took me shopping at a mall to get a few things and man I couldn?t get over how many people can fit into such a small place, couldn?t wait to get out! Karl, Jake, myself and the boys went to get some food and that was a mission in its self. We searched for some matches which took us about an hour as the supermarkets are not allow to sell them or tobacco or salt as these are owned by the government and you have to pay an extra tax. Monica said to us to always keep your receipt until you get home as they sometimes have tax people around the streets and if you cannot prove what you have just brought then you will be charged a fine, now that wouldn?t be good.

We all went to see the factory on Saturday, very cool. Jake and Karl went out for a practice on Sunday and Jake and Karl had their first day on the job today, they are not yet back so I will let Jake inform you all on how he has been getting on over the last few days.

Ciao for now
