All go with events….

Been flat out with events these past few weeks, with more to come!

Round 3 of the National Enduros down here in Wellington went really well for me, I felt really strong on the bike all day and was able to push a lot harder than normal. One of the terrain tests was set in pines and was to my liking as it was fairly technical. The other one was more open and fast on loose rocks. I managed my first ever terrain test win and was able to make it up to 2nd overall behind Chris Birch along with a class win in the 0-300 4 stroke class.

Moving on to the First round of the North Island trials champs up in Auckland, this was the first time I have been back on the trials bike since the last North Island round last year, due to the enduros taking up most of my time these days. This was also my first outing on the new 2015 Gas Gas Racing 300 which was really cool, started Saturday off slightly rusty but soon came to grips with it all again dropping only a few points but enough to stay ahead of the rest of the field, was able to continue this on Sunday and have the overall win! Sections were set at a great level with some challenging slippery creeks through to steep hill climbs out of muddy bogs.

Last but not least, this weekend I competed in the Taranaki Hard Enduro out at Mt Damper, what a race that was! Very tough going and demanding on all the riders, the guys up there put on an awesome event with about a 40km loop over farm land and in native bush, I started from the 5th row and began to close the gap on the riders in front early on in the race. By the time I made it halfway up the first hill climb I was amongst the front runners and had moved my way through to the front by the top of what was an extremely difficult hill. Was having heaps of fun out on the track enjoyed every bit of it, tried to make as little mistakes as possible and stay out in front, the hard technical track suits my riding with my trials background. There were definitely moments in the day I wish I had a trials bike when lifting over and up banks, but my Fe250 Husqvarna was on point and made a great choice of bike for the event in my opinion! Made it to the finish line just over the 2 hour mark ahead of Greg Delatour in 2nd and Paul Whibley in 3rd. Awesome feeling to win a race like this and I hope to be able to compete in more like it soon, however, for now it is all go for the next two rounds of the National Enduros down south in Christchurch and Dunedin this long weekend.
